NEXT MOBILE FOOD PANTRY: Tuesday, April 7th — 1:30 PM @ Muscatine Church of Christ
Muscatine Mobile Food Pantry
A community effort to feed our neighbors with love, dignity, and hope.
The Muscatine Mobile Food Pantry exists to make sure no one in our community goes without the nourishment they need. Starting August 2025, the pantry will operate from its new home at Muscatine Church of Christ, where we are honored to help carry this mission forward.
This isn’t just a church project — it’s a community-wide effort. We partner with River Bend Food Bank, volunteers from across Muscatine, and generous neighbors like you to make each month’s distribution possible.
Whether you’re picking up food, offering your time, or helping us spread the word, we’re grateful you’re here. Together, we can serve hundreds of families each month — one trunk, one prayer, and one kind act at a time.

🥕 What Kind of Food Will I Receive?
Each distribution includes a variety of grocery items. These may include:
-
Fresh produce
-
Dairy and frozen meat
-
Canned goods and pantry staples
-
Bread, snacks, and occasional bonus items
No ID or paperwork required — just come as you are.
How does it work
RSVP Early to Save Time
About 10-14 days before the pantry distribution, when we know how many families we will be able to serve, we will open up RSVPs (reservations). Here’s what you need to know:
-
If you register online and receive a confirmation email with your QR code, you’re registered. You’ll check in on pantry day with your QR code.
-
Please enter from the north side by taking Tipton → Bayfield → Mulberry Avenue to help reduce congestion on the bypass.
First-Come, First-Served Boxes Always Available
- Each event includes a set number of drive-up boxes available without RSVPing online.
- These are distributed first come, first served starting usually starting at 1:30.
- If you weren’t able to RSVP online, you can still receive food
Why We Do It This Way
We balance limited resources with community access by:
-
Giving families who RSVP peace of mind that a box is waiting for them.
-
Making sure those without internet access or who register late still have a way to receive food.
-
Managing traffic, wait times, and volunteer workload so the experience stays safe and efficient for everyone.
Who Can Get Food & How to Help Others
What Counts as a Household?
A household means everyone who lives together and shares food.
This includes:
- Adults, children, and seniors living under the same roof
- Family members, roommates, or anyone regularly eating meals together
- People who may not be related but live in the same home and share groceries or meals
Examples:
- A single parent with two children = 3-person household
- Two roommates who shop and cook together = 2-person household
- Grandparents living with adult children and grandkids = all included in one household
It’s not based on who owns the home or who pays the bills—it’s about who eats together and is supported by the same food resources.
Can I pick up for another household?
A proxy pickup is when one person picks up a food box for a household other than their own.
Standard Proxy Pickup Policy
- A guest may pick up for ONE additional household (2 total boxes) without prior approval.
- Picking up for more than 2 households (3+ boxes total) requires advance approval from the Mobile Food Pantry Team.
Approval Process for More Than Two Boxes
- Contact the Mobile Food Pantry Team before the event via email, phone, or in person.
- Be prepared to provide: Names and household sizes of all additional households
- Reason for proxy pickup
- If approved, a written confirmation (email or printed letter) will be provided.
- This confirmation must be shown at pickup in order to receive additional boxes.
For Pre-Registered Households
- Each household that pre-registers will receive a QR code confirmation email.
- If someone else is picking up their box, they must forward the QR email to the person doing the pickup.
- One person may present up to two QR codes without prior approval.
- More than two QR codes = requires approval and confirmation.
Who can receive food from the pantry?
Anyone in need is welcome. There are no income requirements or proof of need required.
Do I need to bring an ID or paperwork?
No ID or documentation is needed. You may be asked your name, household size, and if you've visited the pantry before — just to help with distribution tracking.
How often can I come?
Currently, the pantry operates once a month. You’re welcome to come to each monthly event.
What kind of food will I receive?
Each family typically receives a variety of dry goods, canned items, fresh produce, and frozen meat or dairy (as available). Food availability may vary from month to month.
Do I need to sign up ahead of time?
Not usually. If time slots are used to reduce traffic, we’ll communicate that clearly in advance through flyers, texts, and signs.
What should I bring with me?
-
An empty trunk or backseat that volunteers can load food into
-
Plenty of space for your food
-
Your patience as we serve many guests as quickly and kindly as possible
Can I pick up for someone else?
Yes, but we ask that you let the check-in volunteer know whose name you're picking up for so it can be recorded properly.
What if I don’t have a car?
Each family typically receives a variety of dry goods, canned items, fresh produce, and frozen meat or dairy (as available). Food availability may vary from month to month.
