The Power of Togetherness
As we reflected in our recent sermon, we spoke about how technology has significantly reduced the amount of face-to-face interactions we have with others. Yet, the Bible clearly sets forth that we were created as social beings, meant to share life and experiences with each other. The importance of this isn’t just seen in scripture, but also backed by research—showing that sharing experiences can amplify their impact, whether positive or negative.
Practical Steps to Engage More
If you find yourself living more in isolation than community, here are a few simple ways to embrace togetherness in your daily life:
- Start Small Conversations: Whether you’re waiting in line for coffee or sitting on the bus, open up to speaking with those around you. You never know where a simple “hello” might lead.
- Engage in Shared Activities: Join a group Bible study or even just find a friend to read with. The experience of learning together enriches not only your spiritual growth but deepens friendships.
- Invite Others In: Hosting or participating in gatherings, whether it’s a small dinner or a larger event, can help foster a sense of community. Use these opportunities to share your faith and build relationships.
- Be Present: When spending time with family or friends, focus on being genuinely attentive and engaged. Put down the phone and truly listen to what others have to say.
Closing Thoughts
We were not designed to navigate life alone. As Hebrews 10:24-25 reminds us, “And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another…” Let’s make a conscious effort to build those strong connections that God desires for us.
